Can anyone ID this to species?

cassini
I'm leaning towards an ID of Magicicada cassini. I believe that we can rule out septendecim due to the lack of a red patch behind the eye. The size "appears" smaller also and the color patterning on the legs match cassini well. However ... I'm not sure I can rule out septendecula without seeing the underside. Of course, hearing the call would practically be a slam dunk, but unless you're a good cicada mimic ... :D

Very nice images by the way.

He's not...
but maybe he could listen to the sound files on this page he could tell you which one it sounds like.

Good idea
Yeah, I was just having fun. :) I actually found several sites this afternoon with cicada recordings. I was surprised how many there was available.
