Euaresta fly - Euaresta festiva

Euaresta fly - Euaresta festiva
Albion, Calhoun County, Michigan, USA
August 4, 2015
You probably think (rightly) that I am going back through my August pictures that are frassable but might be identifiable. This one faded into oblivion until I saw it this morning and thought maybe, just maybe, that there is enough of the wing on one of these images to positively identify it as Euaresta festiva. It would be a first for Michigan but it is so pretty I would like to know its name, whatever that is. Thanks in advance!

Thanks John!

Yes - E. festiva…
Ragweed is the only host.

See reference here.

Thanks
Thanks Ross. Does that mean I had better stop pulling up my ragweed?
(It doesn't seem to make my allergies better OR worse!)

Nice to see Michigan IS included in the range description. ☺
