Pirate Spider eating Orb Weaver - Mimetus

Pirate Spider eating Orb Weaver - Mimetus
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
June 1, 2007
Size: body 7mm
I found this "ugly" spider eating my pretty little Aran*iella that I've been photographing this year :-(
The Aran*iella was "hollowed out"-appearing, there was a definite cobweb-like structure of webbing around the eating spider. Found in Western Hemlock, Tsuga heterophylla.

This
looks like a pirate spider. The cobweb like stucture was most likely the orb weavers retreat.
Not sure if it is Ero or Mimetus.

The spider is still there
I'll try to get a photo of it away from the hemlock cone and try to get several angles.

A
good facial and lateral views should help narrow down to genus.

I just took the photos
I'll be posting them after running them through Photoshop. I did get a good facial, but the lateral isn't perfect.

Certainly
botched this ID.
Sorry.
