Maine caterpillar - Malacosoma americana

Maine caterpillar - Malacosoma americana
Auburn, ME, Androscoggin County, Maine, USA
June 2, 2007
Size: About 1.5 inches
The spots and stripes were actually an irridescent turquoise blue color - doesn't show all that well on the photo

This one is easy to ID
- Eastern Tent Caterpillar. Very common and it has a distinctive pattern. Pretty, though!
