Pyrgotid Fly - Senopterina varia - female

Pyrgotid Fly - Senopterina varia - Female
Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, USA
June 5, 2007
Size: 12 mm
Help with ID would be great. Not many taxonomical references much less picture on the internet. Could this be P. valida? Dark green metallic body doesn't show up well in photos.

Moved from Senopterina.

Moved from Pyrgota.

Not Pyrgota.
Not even in that family, as far as I can tell. This looks much more like something in the family Platystomatidae. I 'could' be wrong myself, of course, but I know this is not Pyrgota:-)

Thanks so much for your help.
I looked in your Kaufman guide and missed this family. Great job on your book. I use it daily and have recommended it to a few other enthusiasts. I appreciate your dedication to this site.

Senopterina sp.?
What would you think about this? I am probably wrong, but it reminds me of that.

Thanks
I see that you are likely right. Shall I move these over? I wasn't even aware of this family.

I would wait
for someone who could tell you for sure. By the way, these are very nice images.
