Seeing how you identified this species as blaisdelli ...
just curious, what are the diagnostic criteria for distinguishing this species from the other closely related species of the fimbriata species group?

7 lams Vs. 4 lams
Delbert , the deference is readily apparent to me .Pleocoma blaisdelli has 7 lamellae and is smaller, more slider, golden setea , morphology is Highly symmetrical / identical ... they are smaller than fimbriata .There is very little if any difference between individuals ( males). The main locality ( Pine Grove ) for fimbriata has specimens that are very large, Robust , 4 lamellae , darker subdued setae , and has a more asymmetrical morphology . Plus , I cheated Delbert !I drove them up to Brady in Chico to make sure ! And then I called Ian . I will call you if you send me your number . We have tried to contact you thru your site and no joy. However , If you need some " Snow "....we have almost 200 percent precipitation and 6 foot snow berms everywhere at lake level .If you have any Ideas .. please let me know ! I hope you and yours are doing well ! Cheers ! Gene St. Denis Sierra Nevada research
