This rather large (13 mm body length) green lacewing with prominent spots on the
abdomen and
thorax, plus a prominent dark
pterostigma looks to be identifiable. It came to my porch light and I captured and posed it for some photos.
Looking at a key for Florida, The Florida entomologist Vol. 42 (1959:Mar) No. 1, available linked
here.
This appears to be
Allochrysa virginica. Quoting:
(QUOTE)
Allochrysa virginica (Fitch)
The adult of this large, handsome species is easily separated from all other green lacewings found on citrus in Florida by the presence of two dusky spots on each forewing and the unusual mesothoracic markings shown in figure 8.
(END QUOTE)
Aha!. According to
Neuroptera of Florida,
Allochrysa virginica =
Leucochrysa insularis (Walker). It is listed from North Carolina and is widespread in the eastern United States.
See also,
Green Lacewings of Florida, which gives characters of wing venation--I should be able to show these in another image--TBA.
