Size: 8mm
This photo isn't the best, but it shows the insect "in-situ". I have seen adult shield-backed bugs on my Western Hemlock. It seems too "circular" to be a St*ink Bug.

Yes it was the same tree.
I'll move...These just seemed too round, and the one I held in my hand didn't produce any odor, even after using my fingernail to prod it off it's perch on the cone.
