Black and white - Hypercompe scribonia
Hatteras, Dare County, North Carolina, USA

Size: around 2 to 2 1/2 inches
Found in the early afternoon, just on the side of a shed. Very little movement noted. The abdomen was large and had some blue and orange coloration on it. It came back to the same place for threee days and then I found it dead with no apparent trauma.

It's a Giant Leopard Moth
