mite?

mite?

Yes
Moving to Acari.

Not so fast.
This reminds me of a harvestman, or something related, actually. No size is given, either. I'm willing to be wrong, just don't want any premature conclusions here:-)

The legs may seem long for a mite
but they are way shorter than most har*vestmen. Note also that this animal is a plantigrade. Its "foot" is placed flat on the substrate just like many other Erythraeidae. Finally, the lumpy shape of the body more resembles that of other Erythraeidae than it does a ha*rvestman's. I think the image is correctly placed. It is very similar to this one by Tom Murray.

I can only attest
that this was a tiny creature - the body was maybe 2mm long. At first I thought it was a tiny spider but after getting it under the macro lens it really looked more like a mite. It was basically "spinning" in one spot on the leaf, turning round and round before finally moving on. thanks for both your comments.
