Black Caterpillar
I was removing some dry leaves from a corner over some outdoor blick-like tiles here in NY(not city) and found one under the cluster. With all the aggressive ants nearby, I decided to take care of it and see what it becomes. I gave it a large drop of water and it nearly drank it all. My guess as to why I found it where I did is because it was probably seeking water that usually accumulates under dry leaves. I fed it the top part of a strawberry. Seems to like being on the leaves while munching on the red.

Edit: Mine looks slightly different, but the head is clearly the same. It's completely pitch-black with no visible stripe down its back, and it seems slightly fuzzy, kind of like that black texture you put jewelry on for display.

Looks like
a Straight-toothed Sallow. Compare with the ones in the guide.
