California Sister, up high as usual - Adelpha bredowii

California Sister, up high as usual - Adelpha bredowii
Riley Wilderness Park, Coto De Caza, Orange County, California, USA
June 9, 2007
It's on oak, possibly Canyon Oak, its host plant. There are two broods here in Orange County, with adults flying from April to June and probably again from August to September, according to Orasak's local butterfly book circa 1977. I haven't seen many, this year or last.

Not Canyon Live Oak
Probably Coast Live Oak. Not that it matters- I think they feed on those, too, when there are no Canyon Live Oaks around.

Confirmed my suspicion.
But I think everything is Coast Live Oak. Thanks, Chuck.
