Neocicada hieroglyphica (f. johannis)
A common cicada in parts of the Southeast. Florida populations usu. have less black pigmentation and belong to the taxon N. hieroglyphica johannis.

Var. johannis
This cicada is Neocicada hieroglyphica var. johannis according to Allen F. Sanborn's 2005 paper discribing the 6 different species, from Maryland to central America.
