Husum, Klickitat County, Washington, USA
October 21, 2015
This spider was found in the woods bordering a wetland/prairie remnant, a long way from any human dwelling. Many thanks for BG!

L. hesperus

Moved
Moved from
Cobweb Spiders
. This is a penultimate male (only needs one more molt to be mature) of the "western black widow." Not aggressive or anything and it's debatable whether or not the males ever even bite and if their venom is comparable to the females', but not important since you probably won't be pinching or poking him. :-)
