Male Yellowjacket? - Dolichovespula arenaria - male

Male Yellowjacket? - Dolichovespula arenaria - Male
Chassell, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
August 5, 2015
Would this be a male Yellowjacket? The antennae look quite long and it didn't act in an aggressive manner even though I was quite close to it. It was about 5:30 p.m.
and the evening was getting cool. It was on a goldenrod flower which was on a two-track with a mixture of hardwoods and conifers on each side of the two-track. The
location was in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake Superior.
