Moth: Geometrid? - Mocis latipes

Moth: Geometrid? - Mocis latipes
Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
December 10, 2015

Moved
Moved from Mocis.

I now agree, especially considering the strong AM line as well as the definition of the reniform and sub-reniform spots.

Moved from ID Request.

I actually agree with Davis as to both Genus and species, but is so close that I am going to place to Genus and let the experts decide. I have started trying to study the original descriptions but I don't know if I will ever get comfortable differentiating between these two where their ranges crossover as in Florida.

Mocis latipes
I agree with David: the distinct round subreniform spot makes it Mocis latipes, in my opinion.

Mocis
I vacillated between these two also.

Mocis
Certainly Mocis sp. and likely Mocis latipes
