Spider Of Some Kind - Argiope aurantia

Spider Of Some Kind - Argiope aurantia
Mississippi River, Missouri/Illinois County, Illinois, USA
October 30, 2006
Size: Fairly big
I saw this spider and was on a riverboat cruising the Mississippi River at the time this shot was taken. It seemed pretty big. Can anybody ID it, please? I was over in St. Louis to see Bob Newhart in concert.

identification
These are known as writting spiders, black and yellow agriopes or yellow garden spiders(Agriope aurantia). Agriopes are found very commonly all over North America with some exceptions, where? I don't really know... what a beauty you've captured! :P

LOL!
This is great! You'll have to put in a web now, spanning the Arch, of course:-)

I Never Thought Of That
Good idea, I should have thought of that!

Time to go commercial, Kenny
Lose that arch and go for the golden ones.

Way to go!
Maybe a Arch*iope? Sorry, not good with spiders ;-)

That is a big one!
Did you warn downtown St Louis?
