If memory serves, the location and amount of red are important points.

 
Color less important.
Personally, I think there is a fair amount of variation in coloration among individuals in a species of Apiomerus, though not nearly as drastic as with other hemipterans. Location is 'definitely' important, though, as some Apiomerus have fairly limited geographic distributions.
