Common Barklouse - Blaste osceola - male

Common Barklouse - Blaste osceola - Male
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
December 14, 2015
Adds new species for BugGuide

Moved to Blaste osceola
Moved from Common Barklice.

Dr. Mockford says, "I think this may be Blaste osceola because of the smudge along vein Cua1 in the forewing. It is only slightly developed in the male, but it is present. The pterostigma is more
extensively dark than in most of my specimens, but there is a lot of variation in that."

Probably...
Blaste subquieta, male. I'll send this to Mockford for confirmation. Keep looking for the female of Blaste persimilis and keep the specimen for Mockford.

Thanks, Diane
It didn't look like anything I'd seen before. I've been beating bushes when not raining, but all I'm getting are harvestmen 😊
