I've seen , I think, this same species in the guide - Diptera section - but there was no ID on it. Any possibilities?

Pallopteridae
From the Manual of Nearctic Diptera I gather this is a species of Toxoneura (possibly T. superba) of the family Pallopteridae. There is still some discussion whether Toxoneura should be considered distinct from Palloptera or as synonym, but it probably is best just to follow the Manual for now.

Thanks, Paul
There's only one genus of Pallopteridae in North America so I moved the image to the new genus page.
