Chlaenius tricolor tricolor? - Chlaenius tricolor - Female
Dead Lake, Marengo County, Alabama, USA
June 10, 2015
Size: 13mm
I keyed this to Chlaenius tricolor tricolor (Bell 1960). Key features include:

1. Third antennomere not elongate, & mandibles short and curved.
2. Labrum straight.
3. Pronotum shining, microsculpture obsolete.

Apologies for the poor shape of the specimen though I do think the shininess of the pronotum is rather insightful. The locality and more elongate pronotum indicate the tricolor subspecies. Input would be greatly appreciated!

This specimen was caught by NEON using a pitfall trap containing a 1:1 ratio of water and propylene glycol.
