Hook-faced Conehead - Pyrgocorypha uncinata - Female
Pilot Mountain State Park, Surry County, North Carolina, USA

This wonderful conehead had white eyes and blue/purple mouthparts, unlike any I have found before. The habitat was in the hardwoods of mountainous North Carolina.

Hook-faced conehead.
I believe that this is a female hook-faced conehead, Pyrgocorypha uncinata. Nice find!

I am thrilled with this find.
I am thrilled with this find. I went back to some of my other pictures of her and found that she did indeed have a hooked tip of her cone. Thanks very much.
