Out of interest
on the full size images, can you detect any hairs on the elytra?

Sorry about your loss of interest
I donated this specimen to the New Mexico State University Arthropod Museum back in early February 2016.

It recently occurred to me
There is a fabled "rule" that Brumoides histrio has hairs on the elytral margin, and septentrionis doesn't. I have seen images of histrio with hairs. I now need to see images of septentrionis that don't have hairs. Then I can confirm the rule is true.

The specimen is not needed because your photos are so good. But I can only see this small photo, which is hiding the detail I need to see.

Brumoides histrio is not in Texas. But there are some areas in California, Arizona, and Nevada where the two species live together. That is why I'd like to check it out. This may be the only way to separate these two species.

Now I recognize that
I probably misunderstood your comment "Out of interest". I thought you had lost interest in my posting of relatively large images. Thank you for your kind words about my photos of this lady beetle, but I am not pleased with their quality because those were some of my first images using a new challenging lens (Canon MPE 65mm 1-5X). I will email you the original photos so hopefully you can see more detail. Thank you for your interest and your kind help James.

I understand
I try to make my comments as clear as possible. Sometimes a phrase gets through that can have multiple meanings. Of course in this sense I was suggesting that my comment was because I had interest, rather than that I had no interest :)
