Twin-spotted Sphinx (Smerinthus jamaicensis) - Smerinthus jamaicensis - female

Twin-spotted Sphinx (Smerinthus jamaicensis) - Smerinthus jamaicensis - Female
Buxton, Traill County, North Dakota, USA
June 9, 2013
This specimen may be an example of the Twin-spotted Sphinx (Smerinthus jamaicensis) 7821. Found clinging to the screen in the evening on a cold rainy night. I brought it in and did not release for a few days due to the extreme cold weather. She laid a small amount of ova. She was released and the ova hatch but the young larvae did not survive. This was my 1st experience with any moth in hand as and adult and now you know the rest of the story.
