Gelastocoris? - Gelastocoris oculatus

Gelastocoris? - Gelastocoris oculatus
Alton, Madison County, Illinois, USA
June 13, 2007
Size: ~8 mm
I was amazed at how it looked like a toad or frog from a distance. It even hops like one! Near a stream.

Thanks V.
Moved from Gelastocoris.

YEP!
Yeah, you're right. This is a toad bug, from Gelastocoris. I don't know the particular species, but it looks cool though!

Thanks for the
confirmation, Ricky.

Really neat posts today!
I've been ogling the flies, but this one is a real show-stopper!

Thank you
This trip to Illinois was very productive and I saw a bunch of different bugs than are here in Houston. This bug was really cool!
