new USA record
This is the first record of this genus from the USA.

Out of curiosity
Why the cf after the species name. I'm still early in my immersion into some of this taxonomy lingo. Does this mean that there is some uncertainty about the identity?

species i.d.
Yes, Z. laeta was described from and is only reported from Brazil! This specimen is very similar to the published description, but considering the vast distance between the records, I was hesitant to commit to the identification. I also caught a second female, so whatever this species is definitely is established there. The one possible qualifier is that Leptofreya ambigua, another jumper found in the same area of south Texas, is native to northern South America (including Brazil) and was apparently introduced to Texas and Florida. So it is remotely possible that this could be another introduced species. I would be surprised if this was true, though, as this species seems to have much less synanthropic potential than the Leptofreya.
