Beetle - Prionus imbricornis

Beetle - Prionus imbricornis
Savannah, Georgia, USA
Size: approx 3 cm

Not Prionus imbricornis...
...the antennae have too few segments, but rather Prionus (s. str.). I suspect P. pocularis based on the rather narrow pronotum, closely spaced eyes, and pale coloration. Associated with pines.

Prionus sp.
This is a giant root borer in the genus Prionus. Not sure of the species. This one appears to be a male.
