Lawn Mine First Responders - Physiphora

Lawn Mine First Responders - Physiphora
Encino, Los Angeles County, California, USA
March 31, 2007
Size: 1/4" plus
It was midday, and the animal dropping on my front lawn was still fresh enough to smell from a distance. I noticed some insects crawling on it I hadn't seen before, so I took some pictures.

Aside from ID, I'd appreciate advice on which images to frass.

Not an expert but to me they look like
Physiphora.

Looks like it
I hesitate to move it, though, because I don't know enough to be sure.

Thanks!
