Ants & aphids on Golden Alexanders - Crematogaster cerasi

Ants & aphids on Golden Alexanders - Crematogaster cerasi
Junction City, 15 mi. SE, Geary/Flint Hills County, Kansas, USA
May 1, 2015
These ants & aphids were found on Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea) on May 1, 2015, in the Creek Field along McDowell Creek. Can anyone tell me what species or genera we may have here? And what are these species doing together?
Thank you!

I'm no expert, but...
it looks like the ants are in Camponotus to me, perhaps C. floridanus. From what I understand, often times aphids produce honeydew that the ants eat. In return, ants protect the aphids from potential predators. So awesome!
