Fly, maybe a soldier fly species? - Dialysis fasciventris - Male
Powell Gardens, near Kingsville, Johnson County, Missouri, USA
May 11, 2012
Came to blacklight/MVL setup in a bug friendly arboretum. I kept trying to make this a syrphid until I realized the veins and antennae are all wrong for that family. Stumped from there, other than maybe a soldier fly.

...in/near Dialysis.

The fly experts will let you know if I'm anywhere close. :)

Oh, wow...
never heard of that family! the images on bugguide sure look like that! Thanks!
