red-and-black beetle - Ditemnus
Ailsa Craig, Ontario, Canada
May 20, 2004
Size: about 5 mm
On porch at night. The little projections on the pronotum resemble those on the Silis latilobus specimen moreso than S. percomis at Cedar Creek but percomis is the only Silis species currently on the Ontario list. Nearctica.com lists 79 species of Silis, so I imagine there's a fair number that look similar.

Moved
Moved from Silis.

yes, Ditemnus cf. latilobus
