Andrena or Hesperapis? - Hesperapis - male

Andrena or Hesperapis? - Hesperapis - Male
Philip L. Boyd Deep Canyon Desert Research Center, Indian Wells, Riverside County, California, USA
March 6, 2016
Size: 9 to 10 mm
Because this is a male, it is difficult for me to tell if this is Andrena or Hesperapis. Caught several of these males flying around an Encelia bush (either E. farinosa or E. actoni, not sure) between 10:00 and 11:00 local time. Did not catch any females.
