An expert should weigh in. Looks vaguely like Hyperaspis annexa or Hyperaspis trifurcata.

 
I think you're right!
It looks just like this and I collected it a couple towns over from where these specimens were found. http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/coleopt/Hyperaspis.htm
