Roach - Parcoblatta

Roach - Parcoblatta
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
May 14, 2007
Is this an American?

No.
This is an adult male wood cockroach in the genus Parcoblatta. Adult females are wingless. Wood roaches are native (unlike the "American" and other invasive species from tropical Africa that can only survive indoors in North America) and live exclusively outdoors. Males are attracted to lights at night.
