Rufus Soldier Beetle? - Cantharis livida

Rufus Soldier Beetle? - Cantharis livida
Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
June 9, 2004
One more shot of possibly C. rufa. If someone can confirm, then I'll move them to the appropriate page:)

Moved
Moved from Cantharis.

do you remember size?
C.rufa: 7-11mm (so, pretty small).

If my eyes do not go wrong, there is a black dot on the head, and hind tibiae are dark. That would exclude C.rufa (but may allow for C.livida: 12-16mm).

cheers, Boris

Size...
If memory serves, all of these shots were of pretty big beetles. So should we move to C. livida until we hear otherwise?

don´t know.
. . . there might be similar American species I do not know - until it is clear that not, everything can be moved.
