Chlaenius tricolor
is my first choice for this common species in Wisconsin. We're you thinking the same? It would help the identifier if body length (even if an estimate) is posted in terms of millimeters. Of course that may not be possible for active live insects.

Yes, tricolor was my guess,
but with 50 US species, I was hoping for confirmation.

Give yourself credit
by including your guess somewhere in the note section attached to your image. I do agree that it is best not to place your post on the species page if you are not sure. See my paper on Wisconsin ground beetles so you will be able to significantly reduce the choices of species in the future.
