Snipe Fly - Chrysopilus

Snipe Fly - Chrysopilus
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
June 23, 2007
Size: body 7mm
I don't think I've seen this fly before. It has long legs like a "Long-legged Fly", but it doesn't have the "horse-face" of Mede*tera. It was larger than M, also. Found on a Rose of Sharon shrub. (Malva)

Thank you so much!
I have never seen a golden fly like this, except for one of Lynette Schimming's photos. (Which you already ID'd for her) :-)
