Tiny - Clastoptera proteus

Tiny - Clastoptera proteus
Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, USA
June 22, 2007
Size: ~`2mm
Found this tiny bug resting on Tovara (Polygonum) virginianum along the edge of a wet swale through the oak woods. This one has no yellow on the back but we're guessing it's just one possible form of this variable species. Is this the male, all black?

Clastoptera proteus
Yes; the only other species with all-black wings don't have yellow bands across the head and thorax.
