Clearwing moth - Synanthedon pyri

Clearwing moth - Synanthedon pyri
Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA
June 18, 2007
Size: 15 mm
likes to hang around catnip.

Moved

Not C. bassiformis
I don't think this is Carmenta bassiformis. The banding pattern on the abdomen doesn't fit the description as found in Eichlin's key (MONA, 1988)

sesiid identification
Jason - I agree that this is not bassiformis but more likely another female of Synanthedon pyri.

Looks
like Eupatorium Borer Moth - Hodges#2596. It seems to be the only one with the white on the antennae.

I surrender
the floor to the gentlement above. :)
