Huge Beige Spider - Araneus cavaticus - male

Huge Beige Spider - Araneus cavaticus - Male
Barton, Orleans County, Vermont, USA
June 24, 2007
Size: 2.5 inches
These spiders are common here where I live in Vermont. They are always outside on the house, under porch roofs. They have messy webs. They grow bigger and bigger as the season goes on. They are in the exact same spot year after year.

A
male Araneus. Looks like a barn spider.

Orb weaver.
This looks to be an adult male specimen (long legs, relatively small abdomen). Can't tell you what genus, but family is Araneidae. Very nice portraits.
