Jumping spider - Ghelna canadensis - male

Jumping spider - Ghelna canadensis - Male
Licking County, Ohio, USA
May 13, 2007
Size: 5mm
Found between some loose deck boards after a heavy rain and photographed in captivity. I've since found another one on the same deck but was unable to capture it, so I'm still looking for a female.

I'm amazed that a subterranean jumper could still retain such brilliant scales without also being a beetle-mimic. This is a very pretty spider IMO.
