I wanted to call this a Tetraopes tetrophthalmus but there was a difference becuase this beetles shell was very shiny. The Tetraopes tetrophthalmus I saw on a differnet plant had a dull finish...sort of grayish.

The combination of completely black antennae, strongly developed subhumeral elytral markings, and lack of apical markings are diagnostic for this species.

I took an entire series of these guys today. They were breeding like mad. Nice shot.

I took a taxonomic name for mine from a guide. (Tetraopes basalis) is what I have.
