Mining bee - Calliopsis subalpina - male

Mining bee - Calliopsis subalpina - Male
Fort Stockton, Pecos County, Texas, USA
June 1, 2016
This adorable little fellow was rummaging around in a mallow a short distance from the city's largest park. It was quite active and not easy to photograph, but I think these images will do the trick.

Male - Mining Bee
This one is a known Globe Mallow feeder. The wing pattern of the males is distinct, grey eyes, orange antennae tips, etc. Nice Shots!
Calliopsis subalpina: ♂ A first for your state, congrats!

No kidding!
A new state record? Wow, that's exciting to say the least! I suppose I was in the right place at the right time!

Thanks for the surprising feedback Bob!
