...it's probably a full-grown larva of an anise swallowtail, which has crawled onto your tomatoes looking for a place to pupate.

Garden Pest
This looks like it will be a Black Swallowtail Butterfly. They will not hurt your tomatoes. They live on parsley. fennel and dill in the garden.
