Tiny bugs on tiny mushrooms.

Tiny bugs on tiny mushrooms.
Washington Parish, Louisiana, USA
June 29, 2007
Size: about 2mm
Something here has caused the death of my chives. I noticed this "white fuzz" in my herb pot on my chives. When these yellow mushrooms sprouted up, everything in the pot died the next day. I thought the fuzz was a fungus at first because it's always accompanied by the yellow mushrooms, and the plants die after the mushrooms show up. Only after I took a picture of the sprouting mushrooms did I notice the fuzz was actually some bugs. What are these, mealybugs? Are they possibly what's killing my plants? Are they linked to the yellow mushrooms somehow? It is a mystery. The mushrooms in the picture are about 1.5CM tall, and grow to about 10cm and wither up in a day.

Mealy Bugs
I think they are, but I don't know about the shrooms.
