Scoliid wasp - Campsomeris plumipes

Scoliid wasp - Campsomeris plumipes
Pasadena, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
July 1, 2007
Size: ~20mm
Nectaring on Rose of Sharon. It was a bit defensive of me being too close. I also noticed that while it was grooming itself and a Bumble Bee came too near, it would raise it's hind legs straight up in the air similar to some scarab beetles. Is this Campsomeris plumipes?
