Ant-mimic spider - Microlinyphia - male

Unless I'm misinterpreting this (or possibly using the wrong words), the palp has a very long embolus that broadly curves ventrally and retrolaterally until it nearly reaches back to the tarsus.

I just realized I neglected to process a head-on photo of this guy. IIRC the cymbium was also fairly interesting. Another image will be added tonight.

Compare
to the platform spider.
Here is a European species.

Agree
Moving to genus for now and I'll work on the species when I get time, probably not until winter unless I can improve my workflow before then.

THANKS MUCH for the ID! There's one little problem with those European species photos though. They are much more detailed than mine, so I'll need to re-shoot the closeups on this guy with better glass and more controlled lighting. :-)

There
are four species in our region, and I don't know if that is one of them or not. I have drawings of pusilla and mandibulata palps, but not the other two.

Thanks for your great images. As a result, I was able to correct my misidentification of Tom's adult male.
