The color was violet, a little bit like Cedusa, but darker and shiny. Found on weeds.

Limotettix kryptus?
There are actually several species that are black like this - you need a male for positive identification. L. anthracinus tends to be more southern than L. kryptus, and is recorded from Quebec only in the vicinity of Ottawa.
