First I'd like to say that I use this site all the time to identify bugs and it is a great resource! Second I'd like to say I am a novice at bug identification. I have spent hours trying to id this bug, I'm thinking I must be way off base since I can't find anything like it. So any help is appreciated.

looks like
Painted Lichen moth-Hypoprepia fucosa

absolutely gorgeous
specimen. Very nice shot.

Thank you!
I originally thought it was a moth by the way it flew and always seeing them at night but when I couldn't find it I gave up on that idea.

Thanks for the help.

Oops
Sorry, I should have added that I see these bugs at night gathered under the outside light. The habitat is forest/forest edge.
