Multiples of this particular insect found in and on newly opened milkweed seed pods. Wings look somewhat stunted, curious if this perhaps not fully developed at this point. Damp meadow/clearing in hardwood forest.

This is an immature large milkweed bug, Oncopeltus fasciatus. It is a molt or two away from adulthood. Welcome to Buggide, Gretchen. Your territory covers a lot of really interesting habitats, so looking forward to more of your posts:-)
